| Who We Are We are one of many snowmobile clubs that operate in the Northeast Iowa area. We operate out of Decorah, Iowa which resides in Winneshiek County. The Winneshiek Trail Twisters Snowmobile Club started in the year 2000 with a husband & wife team along with some local friends. In 2002 Darryl Hanson was elected as President and he has held that position until March of 2009. In the year 2007 the club had a total of 25 paid members out of 300 plus registered snowmobiles in Winneshiek county. In 2009, Jake Ludeking, was elected President. With an enthusiastic and dedicated Vice President, Treasurer, Secretarial Staff, and Board members, along with many unnamed club members, and a great local radio station, KVIK, the Winneshiek Trail Twisters Snowmobile Club grew. By the end of the 2009 season the club has over 100 paid memberships. Now with our most recent membership drive November 5, 2011, we have over 160 paid memberships, (single and family memberships), and we always welcome more to our great group of snowmobile enthusiasts. We welcome all who are willing to donate their time to help our club maintain and expand trails in Northeast Iowa. Like the old wise tale states, "Many hands make light work". What We Do Every fall the club members take sections of the trail system and install trail signs and 911 signs through the fields and wooded areas of Winneshiek County. Once the snow falls one of our eight qualified snow groomer operators will hit the trails. Our Club has a monthly meeting on the first Monday of each month at our "Club House", at the residence of Jake and Cheryl Ludeking, @ 2005 Centennial Road, Decorah Iowa. Our Goals We as a club strive to make SAFE and fun trails for all snowmobiles from near and far to enjoy. We want everyone that utilizes the trails end the days ride, in the same condition they started in. We currently have 100 plus miles and are always looking for new areas to bring our trail systems to that are located in the northern half of Winneshiek County. |
